Eating Out Tips

Whether to eat out at restaurants is, of course, a personal choice. There is always the risk of cross-contamination and misinformation about the ingredients in menu items. However, eating fresh, simply prepared foods combined with careful communication with the wait staff and chefs can allow you to have many delicious dining experiences. But always keep in mind the motto "When in doubt, do without!"

The following are resources that give very helpful tips on eating out successfully gluten-free:

"Restaurant Dining Info" from the Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG)
"Eating Out" from Gluten-Free Living magazine
"Restaurant Info" from the Healthy Villi support group.

Gluten Intolerance Restaurant Cards

There are many different versions of these cards available from different sources. See Gluten-Free Restaurant Cards for information about these sources.
