Making Appointments for the Celiac Centers

To make it as easy as possible for patients to make appointments, the Center asks that you following these guidelines.

Adult Appointments
  • Call the Warren Celiac Center at 858-822-1022. You may have to leave a message if no one is available to take your call.
  • To help Dr. Harmon better serve the community, Dr. Harmon asks that the Center help him in collecting preliminary information prior to patients seeing him.
  • Linda Nelson has established questions that she will ask those interested in seeing Dr. Harmon. Once the information is collected, she will email the information to Dr. Harmon and his Clinical Assistant.
  • Dr. Harmon’s Clinical Assistant will contact you to set up an appointment upon Dr. Harmon’s instruction.
  • Be prepared to bring your medical records with you to your appointment.

Pediatric Patients

  • It is best to call the Warren Center at 858-822-1022 to make appointments. This is due to problems patients have had making appointments when calling Children's Hospital directly.
  • Linda Nelson will collect the name of the parent/adult requesting their child be seen by at the Clinic, a contact number, and the name of the child.
  • This information will be emailed to the clinic, which will in turn instruct someone from the clinical staff to contact you to schedule an appointment.
  • Be prepared to bring a copy of the patient's medical records with you to your appointment.

Community Celiac Screening Program

The William K. Warren Medical Research Center for Celiac Disease at U.C. San Diego is offering a Community Screening Program for Celiac Disease. The Center is offering a blood test to screen for celiac disease at a very low cost of $29.95. Blood drawing will be held at a UCSD outpatient clinic on campus. There are no additional charges for the blood drawing, office visit or parking, but participants will be asked to complete an anonymous survey about their experience. Testing will begin in early June, but the application process will begin May 1. To be considered for this program, participants must meet all the following criteria:

  • You must be 18  years or older
  • You must be consuming gluten (found in wheat, rye and  barley) for at least the past two months. Those currently on a gluten-free diet are not  eligible for this program.
